The Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring a safe and compliant work environment by managing safety protocols, conducting inspections, and promoting a culture of safety. The role involves close coordination with internal and external stakeholders to implement and maintain safety standards.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Approve work permits and ensure compliance with safety standards.
Conduct plant rounds, contractor site visits, and zone-wise safety audits to monitor safety practices.
Inspect, follow up on identified safety concerns, and compile observations from rounds and audits.
Manage Safety PPE issuance, stock, and consumption reporting.
Organize, attend, and maintain records for safety meetings (weekly, SSC, CSC).
Prepare and submit monthly safety reports for A&E and Corporate.
Conduct canteen audits, monthly surrounding rounds, and supplier/contractor safety audits.
Provide safety training sessions and organize mock drills with detailed reporting.
Analyze accidents and injuries to identify root causes and implement preventive measures.
Review and revise Job Safety Analysis (JSA) documents.
Coordinate legal inspections and internal/external audits, including OHSAS audits.
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor’s degree/diploma in Safety Management from Regional Labour Institute.
Proven experience in safety management or a similar role.
Strong knowledge of safety protocols, laws, and regulations.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and work collaboratively in a team environment.
