Eureka SOL is a water-soluble Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA) thread that dissolves completely when submerged in lukewarm water. Polyvinyl Alcohol is a water-soluble synthetic polymer and has hydrophilic nature.

It is a biodegradable polymer, and its degradability is enhanced through hydrolysis because of the presence of hydroxyl group on the carbon atoms.
